{"id":61,"date":"2017-04-03T16:30:48","date_gmt":"2017-04-03T20:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/specialprojects.wlu.ca\/activeintegration\/?page_id=61"},"modified":"2019-12-19T16:15:35","modified_gmt":"2019-12-19T21:15:35","slug":"home-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/specialprojects.wlu.ca\/activeintegration\/","title":{"rendered":"The ACTIVEIntegration Partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> The <strong>ACTIVEIntegration<\/strong> Partnership has embraced the opportunity to provide   greater understanding of physical activity among new immigrant women and children in Waterloo Region to inform public policy, community programming, physical activity interventions, and to provide a venue for social integration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Research has shown that the provision of physical activity opportunities may be particularly beneficial to new immigrant women and children.  Therefore, the primary focus of the <strong>ACTIVEIntegration Partnership<\/strong> is to understand how physical activity can facilitate greater social integration among new Canadian women and children\/youth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Partnership\u2019s goals are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Support local public policy, community programming, and physical activity\ninterventions to meet the physical activity needs among new immigrant women and\nchildren\/youth.<\/li><li>Provide opportunities for greater social integration through physical\nactivity. <\/li><li>Develop\nand evaluate an evidence-based physical activity program to facilitate social\nintegration among new Canadian women and children\/youth.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Partnership uses a <a>research-to-application approach<\/a> through community-university alliances to create evidence-based physical activity opportunities in Waterloo Region and beyond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>ACTIVEIntegration Partnership<\/strong> includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlu.ca\/academics\/faculties\/faculty-of-science\/faculty-profiles\/mark-eys\/group-dynamics-physical-activity-lab.html\">Wilfrid Laurier University <\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/laurentian.ca\/\">Laurentian University<\/a> <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.few.on.ca\/\">Focus for Ethnic Women<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/kwmulticultural.ca\/\">Kitchener-Waterloo\nMulticultural Centre<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kitchener.ca\/en\/index.aspx\">City of Kitchener<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionofwaterloo.ca\/en\/health-and-wellness\/healthy-living.aspx\">Region of Waterloo Public Health Unit<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/researchcentres.wlu.ca\/sun-life-financial-centre-for-physically-active-communities\/index.html\">Sun Life Financial Centre for Physically Active Communities<\/a> (CPAC) is a dedicated research centre located at Wilfrid Laurier University who acts as &nbsp;a community-university alliance resource to the Partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact us if you have an interest in: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Working with experienced partners to develop physical activity\nopportunities for new Canadians<\/li><li>Sharing the successes and challenges of your current physical activity programming\n<\/li><li>Evaluating your current physical activity programming<\/li><li>Looking for opportunities to increase your physical activity in a\ncommunity setting. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who are interesting in providing physical activity programming in the community should contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/researchcentres.wlu.ca\/sun-life-financial-centre-for-physically-active-communities\/get-involved.html\">Sun Life Centre for Physically Active Communities<\/a>.
