Lazaridis School of Business & Economics
The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University is recognized as one of Canada’s leading business schools, combining academic excellence with real-world experience. It is home to Canada’s largest business degree co-op program, giving students amazing opportunities to integrate practical work experience with their studies.
Entrepreneurship is at the core of the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics. Through Laurier’s Startup Fund, students have the unique opportunity to identify, evaluate, and invest in real enterprises, gaining firsthand experience in venture capital and entrepreneurship. Over 100 new enterprises have also been created through the Laurier LaunchPad program, which connects students, alumni, faculty, and community partners to turn innovative ideas into thriving businesses.
In the field of accounting, Lazaridis students have consistently demonstrated excellence. The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics has earned more gold medals in the Chartered Accountants Uniform Final Examination (UFE, now known as the CFE) than any other Canadian university.
The Lazaridis School also shines in national competitions. It is an eight-time champion of the “School of the Year” award at the prestigious Jeux de Commerce Central (JDCC) Competition, one of Canada’s most competitive case competitions.
As one of Canada’s largest and most selective business schools, Lazaridis boasts an impressive community of 140 full-time faculty members, 60 part-time faculty members, and 6,000 students. Its strong reputation is further validated by its AACSB accreditation — a distinction earned by only 5% of the world’s 13,000 business programs, ensuring that the education provided at the Lazaridis School meets the highest global standards.
The impact of a Lazaridis education extends far beyond graduation. LinkedIn ranks Laurier as #2 in Canada for producing top marketers and investment bankers, and #4 for finance professionals. Graduates of the Lazaridis School are highly sought after, landing prestigious positions across industries both in Canada and internationally.
The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics offers students not just an education, but a launchpad for success in business, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and beyond.
Lazaridis School International Case Competition
The Lazaridis School International Case Competition (LAZSICC) is a premier event hosted by the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. Taking place over the Fall 2025 reading week, from Sunday, October 12th to Saturday, October 18th, LAZSICC brings together some of the brightest business students from around the world.
This year, we are thrilled to welcome esteemed universities representing institutions across four continents. LAZSICC offers a truly global stage where teams will test their strategic thinking, analytical abilities, and presentation skills against some of the top talent internationally.
Participants will tackle both a short case and a long case — with a five-hour and a 24-hour case competition format, respectively. These challenges are designed to mirror real-world business scenarios, pushing competitors to think critically under tight time constraints and deliver compelling, actionable solutions.
Beyond the competition, teams will also have the opportunity to experience the best of Ontario. Special outings to popular attractions and activities are planned, giving participants a chance to network, relax, and enjoy the vibrant culture and scenery of the region.
LAZSICC is more than just a competition — it’s a celebration of international collaboration, innovation, and excellence in business education. We cannot wait to see the incredible ideas and talent that will be showcased this fall!
