Dr. Kevin Whitehead

Dr. Kevin Whitehead is a Co-Investigator of the Seeing Justice project. He works in the Precursors to Violence Group.

Kevin Whitehead is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research interests include social interaction, race/racism, and violence. His research uses an ethnomethodological, conversation analytic approach to conduct fine-grained examinations of some ways in which the social organization of race and racism is produced and reproduced through the locally organized, everyday practices of people in interaction with one another, and how antagonists manage the potential or actual production of violent actions during the interactional unfolding of conflicts. His research has appeared in Social Psychology Quarterly, Psychology of Violence, and Journal of Language and Social Psychology, among other outlets. He received his PhD from the University of California Santa Barbara.
