Major changes proposed for RCMP
The Mass Casualty Commission has released a report condemning the RCMP for its failures to respond to Canada’s largest mass shooting in Turo, Nova Scotia in 2020. According to the CBC, a major problem has been the RCMP’s failure to impliment recommendations of previous inquiries into their policy. The current report makes 130 recommendations, but as our collegue Chris Schneider points out, there may not be any consequences if these recommendations are not followed.
The report is a significant cross roads in policing in Canada, and we will make further comment on it here and in media.
